Transfers: Transfers can be arranged by Oakwood hamlet at an extra charge on prior notice. If you are arriving at Kalka Station then one will have to hire a Cab from the Taxi Union Office at the station, since vehicles which are not a part of the union are not allowed to pick any clients.

What to take: Very little indeed. Guests should leave valuables and smart clothes at home: virtually nobody wears them in the Himalayan countryside. Pair of walking shoes, sun block and shades are must in summer and winter seasons. For Women guests wearing heels is a bad idea when they are visiting Oakwood Hamlet. Trust us they will need heavy repairs by the end of it. Flip flops are useful as they are easier to slip on and off than lace ups. Monsoons are beautiful at Oakwood Hamlet, when it comes, we provide umbrellas but shoes along with raincoats that tolerate drowning are useful. Oakwood Hamlet provides towels but guests need to carry their own toiletries. Come November and the temperatures dip to 2-3 degrees, good heavy woolens are a must if one wants to survive the chill.

Some essentials: A good torch and spare batteries, sunscreen, binoculars if you like to watch birds, and appropriate medication. There are some good books at Oakwood Hamlet to borrow. And travelling light is a very good idea.

When to go: Well almost throught the year, as they said Every Season is for a Reason. However on weekends and long Holidays, one should book early.

How long to stay: To enjoy the atmosphere, and to get the most from Oakwood Hamlet, we recommend you stay for a minimum of two nights or three nights. However our guests who have appreciated the work and the ambiance at the Hamlet have stayed with us for seven nights.

Early Bird Discounts: are available for those booking 30 days in advance.

Children: are welcome, and in general, enjoy the freedom that Oakwood Hamlet offers immensely.

Pet Policy: Doors of the Hamlet are open to having our four legged guests but they will have to be on a leash most of the times and behave in public areas. A small amount will be charged for their food. We do not provide specific dog / cat food, so guests are requested to carry the same with them.

We request all guests getting there pet to Oakwood Hamlet to make sure that other guests are not disturb.
